Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a consumer VPN?
Consumer VPNs (ExpressVPN, NordVPN and similar) dump hundreds of thousands of strangers onto the same IP pool. Banks, e-invoice systems and firewalls block those IPs. Weridata VPN is an enterprise access gateway reserved for your organization, with a fixed egress IP and identity management under your control.
Should we pick OpenVPN or WireGuard?
For modern phones, tablets, laptops and low-latency developer teams, WireGuard is the clear pick (QR setup in about 10 seconds). Choose OpenVPN when you need to attach an office router (MikroTik/Fortinet), manage groups via Active Directory/LDAP, or traverse restricted hotel networks over TCP.
How long does setup take?
The gateway and static IP are ready minutes after order approval. Device profiles are generated and delivered the same business day by our engineers.
How do we close SSH and RDP to the internet?
When the VPN is up you get a private block (for example 10.8.0.0/24). On the server firewall (UFW / iptables / Windows Firewall) allow ports 22 and 3389 only from 10.8.0.0/24. The rest of the world sees those ports closed; only authorized VPN clients can connect.
What if a device is lost or someone leaves?
From our dedicated panel or via support, that device’s asymmetric key is revoked in seconds. The rest of the team stays connected.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows 10/11, macOS, Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS Linux, iOS, Android official clients and OpenWrt/pfSense/MikroTik/OPNsense routers are fully supported.
Is there a traffic or bandwidth quota?
No. Weridata enterprise VPN servers have no fair-use cap or artificial speed limit. Transfer is unlimited within the gateway plan’s port capacity (1 Gbps or 5 Gbps).
